摘要

Geography education in Southeast Asia (SEA) offers enormous promise and potential in the future. With the region’s fast economic development and growing global interconnections, recognizing and navigating SEA’s varied geography is critical. Predicting the future of anything will require a deep understanding of what has happened, a critical examination of the present, and a consideration of a range of possibilities for the future. This chapter first provides an overview of the evolution of the discourses in geography in SEA over the last three decades before presenting a discussion on some of the current realities in the region, including issues like inclusion, uneven teacher quality, and the state of geographical education in relation to neoliberal needs.
