摘要

In recent years, mental disorders caused by social networking site (SNS) use have emerged as a significant issue. Various symptoms, including lethargy, loneliness, and depression, have been reported to occur with SNS fatigue. This study investigated the potential involvement of “hypervigilant narcissism” as a cause of SNS fatigue, constructing a structural equation model to analyze the relationship between irritable narcissism and SNS fatigue. The results indicated that irritable narcissism had a significant effect on SNS fatigue, which encompasses three factors: attention seeking, hate avoidance, and inferiority complex. Irritable narcissism, prevalent among Japanese individuals, may be provoked by SNS usage, resulting in SNS fatigue. To prevent the increase of irritable narcissism, it is important to promote psychological education for stable self-esteem. Introducing mental health programs in schools and workplaces, including counseling and workshops to enhance self-esteem, would be effective.
