Role and Purpose-Based Concurrency Control with Reducing Electric Energy Consumption

In distributed applications, conflicting transactions have to be serialized to make every pair of objects mutually consistent. In this paper, the EESPO-VM (Energy-Efficient Subject and Purpose Ordering with Virtual Machines) scheduler is newly proposed to serialize conflicting transactions based on the purpose and role concepts in addition to reducing the total electric energy consumption of a server cluster. In evaluation, the execution time of the more significant transactions is shown to be shorter than the less significant transactions based on the purpose and role concepts. In addition, the electric energy consumption of a server cluster is shown to be reduced in the EESPO-VM scheduler.
