Obesity Epidemic
摘要
The obesity epidemic is a pervasive global health crisis characterized by a doubling in prevalence since 1980, now impacting approximately 40% of the world’s population. This multifaceted issue is driven by diverse factors, including genetic, environmental, behavioral, and metabolic influences. Obesity is closely linked to severe health consequences ranging from cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes to various cancers and sleep disorders. Beyond the health implications, obesity imposes a substantial economic burden, with both high direct and indirect costs. Scalable and effective interventions remain elusive, demanding comprehensive approaches from healthcare professionals, policymakers, communities, and individuals to curb the ongoing expansion of this global health crisis.
