This book has charted a single national case of eugenics over almost a century and a half. Britain was the place of origin of the doctrine. A multitude of other national and regional versions existed. Eugenics presented simple claims about heredity and society. It was malleable enough to be combined with all sorts of social, political and scientific ideas.
