Sir Isaac Newton once said (in 1675), “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants,” referring to our collective learning, our unique ability as humans to learn, preserve, share, inspire, and build upon knowledge over time. Undoubtedly, good role models and mentorship are the fundamental pathways to one’s learning, development, and success. This chapter chronicles the life of a judge from Botswana to the United Nations Dispute Tribunal. My journey in the legal field reflects unwavering values, and I aspire to share these ideals in order to inspire others through my story. It emphasizes the importance of judges being courageous and fearless agents of change, who cannot be driven by external pressures.
