Tujilane Rose Chizumila: Adventures Leading to the Bench
摘要
This chapter chronicles the life of Tujilane Rose Chizumila and draws on her memoir, “From a Refugee Girl to a Judge: My Journey,” focusing on her 30-year relocation to Tanzania as a refugee, which serves as the central theme of the narrative. After working with the Tanzania Legal Corporation, she faced challenges upon returning to Malawi, including struggles to find employment due to being labeled as a foreigner. Despite hurdles, she established the first female-owned legal firm in Malawi and took on significant roles, including Ambassador of Malawi to Zimbabwe and SADC, Judge of the High Court of Malawi, and Ombudsman. This chapter highlights resilience in the face of adversity and the importance of integrity in professional endeavors.
