Summary and Conclusions
摘要
A drawing together of the scientific and stylistic considerations that promote the attribution of an art work currently and how these can be compatible with connoisseurship and art expertise. Naturally there is some resistance to embracing new concepts when for so long the realm of connoisseurial opinion that dictate the final attribution of an art work have relied simply upon an opinion based upon experience and style. The application of scientific analysis to art works is sometimes treated with a disdain or distrust arising from a misunderstanding of the concepts of data interpretation and perhaps an inherent unwillingness to change an opinion, which may well have been made with integrity but lacking some vital information revealed by the scientific analysis as has been demonstrated here. Some future applications of scientific methods applied to art works are suggested which will hopefully be engaged in future research work to establish the attribution to an artist in a coherent, understandable and replicable way.
