Islamic Overlapping Consensus

This chapter analyses how radically a possible IOC can depart from the tradition in light of the spectrum of Islamic orthodoxy positions to understand what it would take for a fairly observant Muslim to endorse a form of IOC. It shows that although certain forms of IOC radically break from tradition by the virtue of compromising some of the established principles of Islam, there are two forms of IOC namely, IOC1 and IOC2 could be realistically endorsed by observant Muslims as their line of reasoning and style of argumentation sit firmly within the dictates of established Islamic principles and tradition.
