Rawlsian Political Liberalism: Containment of Unreasonableness in Liberal Constitutional Democracies

  • Gozde Hussain

摘要

This chapter relinquishes one of the main components of political reasonableness, namely, BoJ and offers two central arguments for the modification of Rawlsian theoretical perspective: (i) BoJ is needlessly demanding for convinced Muslim citizens and (ii) BoJ, as a descriptive claim itself cannot explain why religious citizens should uphold a form of toleration that requires them to honour their epistemic restraint in politics. It also proposes a specific formulation for how to prevent the dissemination of strictly and irreconcilably intolerant views to maintain the stability of a well-ordered society.
