The Beginning of Consumption as Antidepressant Self-Medication

  • Ricardo Aranovich

摘要

The future addict falls into consumption because, in the first stage, the drug provides him with a state of well-being or, what is equivalent, it takes him out of a state of discomfort. Young people are an age group in which both consumption and its consequence, addiction, are frequent. This is because young people are in a vulnerable situation in terms of their moods. The adolescent is until recently a child to whom the needs of the adult suddenly arise without having the resources to satisfy them. He begins to have to think about his future, which is uncertain. In addition, the state of society is not facilitating these conditions. Faced with the pressure of consumption, he feels that his resources are insufficient or uncertain or that, in the best of cases, he would have to dedicate himself to tasks that do not arouse the slightest enthusiasm. On the other hand, the current culture suggests that the solution lies in material success. Moreover, faced with the uncertainty of how to obtain it, he falls into disorientation, anxiety and depression. He must leave that superficial and extroverted state and through introspection find what he wants to do with his life, discover his vocation and what he wants to live for, and thus generate from himself the energies and enthusiasm necessary to face existence. In this way he will have a North, he will not be exposed to any influence and he will not need drugs to get out of discouragement and depression.
