Industrial and business economicsEconomics too often ignores the entrepreneur entirely—the unit of analysisAnalysis becomes the firmFirm, without any acknowledgement of what happens within the ‘black box’. In this Chapter we consider David Storey’s contribution to undstanding the role of the entrepreneur in small firms and the links between the attitudes, ambitions and attibutes of entrepreneurs and the performance of their business.
