Social Dependence Relationships and Their Role in Social Modelling Languages

Social modelling languages, pioneered by i*, are intended to model and analyze social settings consisting of actors (human or cyber) and social dependencies between them. The purpose of this chapter is to compare and contrast three variants of social dependence relationships that constitute the conceptual foundation of the i* requirements modelling language, a business process modelling language (Azzurra), and a legal contract specification language (Symboleo).
