i* for Sustainability: A Case Study in Urban Management
摘要
As the world is striving for more sustainability, the emerging megacities face enormous multi-stakeholder problems with complex trade-offs with overlapping as well as conflicting goals and multiple mutual interdependencies. Based on our earlier research on logic-based i* extensions toward simulation and knowledge management, we pursue the question whether i*-based analyses can help to understand and compare possible strategies in such settings. In this chapter, we summarize experiences from a case study concerning water management in megacities. It once again demonstrates the usefulness of the i* modeling language and supporting tools as a foundation for fruitful discussions with non-IT stakeholders but also points to refinements of language concepts and analysis tools that promote deeper understanding and clarify positions and issues toward finding sustainable solutions.
