摘要

Chronic urticariaUrticaria (CU) poses a multifaceted challenge within the realm of psychoneuroimmunology, warranting comprehensive exploration. This enigmatic condition transcends dermatological symptoms, profoundly impacting patients' quality of lifeQuality of life, often necessitating a multidisciplinary approach for effective management. The intricate interplay between the central nervous systemCentral nervous system, immune responses, and psychopathology becomes evident in the context of CU, underlining the need to unravel this intricate “Gordian Knot.” In adults, CU frequently co-occurs with psychiatric disorders, with a prevalence estimated at 31.6%. The mechanisms linking CU and psychopathology remain enigmatic, yet the interconnection between the brain and the immune system suggests a pivotal role for immune-neuro-psychiatric disorders. StressStress, immune system activation, and the resultant cutaneous inflammatory responses are implicated as primary pathophysiological contributors, emphasizing the potential therapeutic value of stressStress reduction. In children and adolescents, CU is associated with psychopathological conditions, and chronic illness can serve as a risk factor for the development of psychopathology. A shortage of empirical data underscores the complex relationship between CU and psychiatric disorders in this demographic. CU’s impact on quality of lifeQuality of life extends across physical, psychological, social, and economic domains. Physical symptoms, sleepSleep disturbances, and unpredictable symptom recurrence contribute to profound physical and emotional strain. The continuous vigilance associated with CU increases anxietyAnxiety and depression risk. Socially, visible manifestations can trigger self-consciousnessSelf-consciousness and isolation, while the condition’s chronicity may strain relationships. In the workplace, CU may reduce concentration and productivity. The economic burden of CU encompasses medical costs, reduced work productivity, and potential career limitations. Comprehensive management of CU should encompass medical and psychological interventions, addressing both physical and emotional distress. This multifaceted approach is essential to providing optimal care for individuals navigating the complexities of CU within the psycho-neuro-immunological framework.
