摘要

StressStress, which is incorporated into the human's life from the prenatal period through the whole life, has been attributed to stimulating psychoneuroimmunological mechanisms, which promote disease progression or predispose individuals to infections, autoimmune/inflammatory diseases, malignancies, cardiometabolic diseases, and neuropsychiatric disorders. Higher socioeconomic status is associated with better health either directly or indirectly via facilitated access to healthcare support. This presumed connection between wealth and health is attributed to the perception of more survival threats leading to encountering higher psychological stressPsychological stress in poor people. In this chapter, the role of psychological stressPsychological stress on infections, autoimmune diseases, cancerCancer, neuropsychiatric disorders, and cardiovascularCardiovascular diseases is briefly discussed from the perspective of psychoneuroimmunology.
