Latin America: Argentina “The Origins of International Relations in Argentina: Teaching International Relations Theory at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina”
摘要
The Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR), located in the city of Rosario, Argentina, has held the oldest International Relations (IR) program in Latin America, established in 1922. Since then, this higher education institution has embodied the commitment to free, secular, and high-quality public education, proudly shaping numerous generations of professionals and scholars. Within this program, the IR Theory course plays a fundamental role in establishing a theoretical and conceptual foundation for students to navigate IR literature. This chapter aims to describe how IR theory is taught at the UNR in Argentina. To this end, it first concisely explores the origins of the centennial Bachelor’s degree in IR in Rosario. Secondly, it provides an overview of its curriculum as the backdrop for the IR Theory course. Subsequently, it describes the contents that are taught in the course to, finally, focus on the pedagogical strategies employed to teach IR at UNR, Argentina.
