Introduction

The climate crisis represents a unique, collective action problem requiring the collaboration of diverse knowledge systems for enhancing climate policy. To achieve this, the book proposes the following: (1) Supporting SSH-STEM collaborations to foster innovative research and holistic policies; (2) Integrating local knowledge and epistemic justice to ensure inclusive and effective policymaking; (3) Ensuring just and inclusive transitions that advance distributive, procedural, and restorative justice, prioritising community engagement and addressing social vulnerabilities; (4) Learning from the Global South for climate adaptation strategies; and (5) Strengthening climate adaptation through ethical governance which is value-based and locally grounded.
