The equating methods are used in this paper to identify which are some problems of State Matura exams or other high-stake exams related to results and test design. The test equating methods are statistical procedures used to adjust scores on assessments so that they can be compared across different forms of a test or across different testing years. When the results have discrepancies, it should be attributed to actual undergraduate performance variances and not to the level of test difficulty. Equating results through different years is a process that aims to ensure fairness and comparability of scores. This is particularly important in educational assessments where variations in test difficulty can occur. The State Matura exams are taken by students at the end of their 12th grade, and successful completion of these exams is a requirement for obtaining a high school diploma in Albania. The results are also used for ranking candidates that apply for admission in universities.
