Training Path of Young Scientific and Technological Talents in New Research Universities-Take Southern University of Science and Technology and Westlake University as Examples

The new research university gets rid of the framework of traditional research universities, and the cultivation of young scientific and technological talents is innovative and unique. Through the research on the training path of young scientific and technological talents of Southern University of Science and Technology and Westlake University, this paper finds that the two universities have six commonalities: clear positioning, combination of attraction and cultivation, advanced management system, application orientation, interdisciplinary setting, and free academic atmosphere. At the same time, due to the short period of operation of new research universities, there are still some problems that need to be solved in the process of development. If the new research university can be further optimized in terms of governance model, institutional mechanism, achievement transformation, industry-university-research cooperation model, it would have a better hematopoietic function and form a sustainable development ecology. In the future, the young scientific and technological talents of the new research university with Chinese characteristics will further play an important role in national strategic oriented scientific research.
