摘要

To synthesize Thorium (IV) complexes of the Th(SB)(HQ)(NO3)2-type, a Schiff base served as the primary ligand, complemented by an 8-hydroxyquinoline (HQ) as the secondary ligand. A novel Schiff base was synthesized through the condensation of o, m, and p-chloroaniline with Salicylaldehyde. Notably, these complexes exhibited non-electrolytic behavior, as evidenced by their electrical conductivity analysis in DMSO. Magnetic susceptibility experiments indicated diamagnetic properties at typical temperatures. Structurally, the complex adopts an octahedral geometry with a coordination number of six. Thermal analysis revealed the absence of coordinated water molecules. However, the compound exhibited minimal to no biological activity against gram-positive bacterial strains and was completely inactive against gram-negative strains.
