Revision Knee Arthroplasty for Periprosthetic Fractures: Loose and Well-Fixed Components

Distal femur fractures occurring about total knee arthroplasty (TKA) can be a clinically challenging scenario. Proper assessment and implementation of fixation or revision strategy is required to achieve the desired clinical outcome. This chapter discusses principles and controversies surrounding the treatment of periprosthetic fractures above a knee replacement. Evaluation and treatment decisions, as well as surgical tips and tricks are discussed on a case-based basis, to apply in the clinical setting.
