In Malta, trademarks are principally regulated by the Trademarks Act, which transposes the provisions of Directive (EU) 2015/2436 (the ‘EU Trademarks Directive’), and its subsidiary legislation. The Trademark Rules also serve to supplement the Maltese Trademarks Act and establish rules applicable to all trademark applications filed in Malta following its entry into force.
