Ozone in the lower atmosphere layers is a secondary pollutant, which results from primary pollutants photochemical reactions called precursors (NOx, VOCs and CO); mainly come from road traffic. This pollutant is considered the most important atmospheric pollutant, for its harmful effects on (human health, animals and vegetation). Algeria is also affected by this pollution. This Mediterranean region indeed offers all the factors conducive to the formation of O3 at high levels and which are (dense road traffic and strong sunshine). This work focuses on the effect of ozone air pollution measured continuously using an analyzer (HORIBA) on the Bouzaréah (CDER) suburban site and the Mustapha University Hospital Center “Station Nesma” urban site. The study results on these two sites during the 2017–2018 period are presented for O3, VOCs and NOx. A notable particularity of photo-oxidative pollution, of which ozone is a constituent: In urban areas, near traffic routes, ozone concentrations generally remain modest because it is consumed by primary pollutants. Suburban ozone follows typical annual and daily cycles: levels are almost zero in winter, with the highest values being measured during the months of July and August. The average monthly O3 concentrations fluctuate between 12.91ppb and 43.20 ppb. The NO, NO2 and NOx average monthly concentrations fluctuate between 0.89 and 46.04 ppb, 3.75 and 26.20 ppb and 4.56 and 72.24 ppb respectively. The average monthly concentrations oscillating between 2.26 and 3.41 ppm, 0.35 and 0.93 ppmC and 2.61 and 4.34 ppmC respectively for CH4, NMHC and THC.
