This paper presents the framework for a sustainable value chain to repurpose the decommissioned end-of-life (EoL) wind turbine blades developed within the Circublade research project. It explores design processes and addresses logistical and implementation challenges. The paper outlines the architecture of a digital platform, as a critical component to a large-scale blade repurposing value chain containing data safety module and crucial information such as blade location, type, and preliminary decommissioning time. Three case studies on repurposing of decommissioned wind turbine blades in Sweden as a sustainable alternative to current disposal methods are presented. These case studies include a short span pedestrian bridge, a car park building with wall structure made of decommissioned wind turbine blades and a noise barrier concept for road and railway application. All these concepts require different approaches and have different levels of complexity in terms of technical requirements. The data needed for their realization highlight the need for a digital platform that stores blade data for a circular management after EoL and that is expected to facilitate the establishment of new value chain for repurposing of EoL wind turbine blades.
