摘要

This study establishes a model for analyzing and understanding the visual perception of minimalism in architectural interior design, with the influence of design experience. A pilot study was conducted. It comprises two participant groups with varying design experiences with a preliminary qualitative analysis that identified key elements and characteristics associated with minimalism. Subsequently, a MaxDiff survey and Design-Criteria Quantification Metrics (DCQM) are used to quantitatively assess participants’ relative preferences and perceptions. The results show significant differences in the appreciation of minimalism according to the design experiences. This study underscores the opportunity of a quantitative approach in architectural style cognition analysis setting the stage for further design studies to integrate more comprehensive qualitative insights related to the design experience.
