Emerging Technologies for Bioplastic Production

摘要

Bioplastics are a nonrenewable, fossil fuel-based alternative to traditional plastics. Unlike traditional petroleum-based plastics, they are created from renewable biomass sources such as vegetable fats and oils, maize starch, straw, woodchips, sawdust, recovered food waste, and other similar materials. Bioplastics have several advantages over traditional plastics, including greater flexibility and durability, but they are also more environmentally friendly. Bioplastics are a feasible option for traditional plastics made from petrochemicals, as environmental worries about the harmful impacts of plastic waste on the environment become global. Bioplastics are less harmful to the environment because they are biodegradable and made from renewable materials. However, not all bioplastics are created equal, and various bioplastics can be made using different procedures. This chapter discusses the many types of bioplastics and their manufacturing procedures. It primarily focuses on the methods used to make biodegradable plastics and their breakdown processes in order to provide researchers and stockholders with future direction. This is because, in view of rising environmental concerns, it is critical to create a plastic material that may quickly degrade in natural environments.
