The Janus of European Sovereignty—A Franco-Estonian Perspective

Sovereignty is abstract and practical at the same time, and an issue which is somehow constantly on the agenda. It is a topic that surfaces every now and then in heated debates and discussions. This can be in the context of European Union integration. One complexity in the topic consists of the fact that sovereignty itself is a sovereign phenomenon and not easily definable even if, during different periods of time, those in power have frequently given a meaning to it corresponding to how they liked to see it, stretching the definition of sovereignty as they have liked.
