“The Brussels Effect” and European Sovereignty
摘要
The Brussels Effect: How the European Union Rules the World was Anu Bradford’s response to the prevailing narrative of the inevitable weakness and decline of Europe—the idea that somehow Europe’s best days are over, and that it is no longer able to exert influence on the global stage. Bradford disputes that narrative and argues that the European Union exerts continuing global influence through its regulations, which enhance European sovereignty and elevates its role globally. In addition to illustrating the manifestations and relevance of this aspect of European sovereignty, Bradford outlines a set of challenges that Europe needs to tackle in addition to thrive and succeed in an increasingly volatile world.
