Office-Based Blue Laser Therapy for Vocal Fold Leukoplakia
摘要
“Leukoplakia” refers to a white lesion. Leukoplakia of the larynx is seen most commonly in smokers, but it also may be found in patients with chronic reflux, papilloma, and other conditions. It requires a biopsy to be certain that there is no malignancy. However, once the lesion has been identified as benign, it can be managed using blue laser in an office setting. This technique is particularly valuable for treatment of early, small recurrences; and it saves many patients the need to undergo multiple procedures under general anesthesia.
