Office-Based Blue Laser Therapy for Vocal Fold Reinke’s Edema
摘要
Reinke’s edema involves a collection of fluid in the superficial layer of the lamina propria of the vocal folds. It occurs most commonly in smokers but also may be associated with laryngopharyngeal reflux, hypothyroidism, and other conditions. Commonly, the condition causes dysphonia with lowering of fundamental frequency. While it usually has been treated in the operating room, blue laser therapy is highly effective not only in the operating room, but also in an office setting without general anesthesia.
