Introduction to Lasers in Laryngology

Lasers have been used in otolaryngology for more than 50 years. Introduction of the photoangiolytic lasers improved surgical precision and decreased the risk of complications. When the blue laser at 445 nm became available in 2018, laryngologists were provided with the not only even greater precision, but also with an instrument that functioned as a hybrid laser, including a cutting function that was not available on prior photoangiolytic lasers. The blue laser is ideal for in-office therapy.
