Analysis of the Complexity and Risk to the Government eHealth System When Adopting the Cloud Services

The adoption of cloud services in the e-health sector has brought many benefits, including increased accessibility and cost savings. However, it has also introduced new cybersecurity risks and complexities to the management of electronic health records (EHRs) in Australia. These risks include unauthorised access to sensitive patient information, data breaches, and loss of control over the security of EHRs. This study aims to analyse the cyber security risks and complexity associated with the adoption of cloud services for Australian e-health records. The analysis will focus on identifying potential vulnerabilities and assessing the risk of data breaches in the e-health sector. The study will also examine the complexity of implementing and maintaining security measures for e-health records in the cloud. The results of this study will provide insights for healthcare organizations and policymakers in Australia to better understand and mitigate the risks and complexity associated with the use of cloud services for e-health records. Healthcare organisations are responsible for ensuring that patient information is protected, but when EHRs are stored on a cloud server, the healthcare organization may no longer have direct control over the security measures in place. This can make it difficult to ensure that EHRs are properly protected, and that patient information is kept confidential.
