Mobile Augmented Reality Gamification Strategies to Promote Social Skills: Case Studies and Future Challenges
摘要
Empathy is considered a strong predictor of prosocial behaviors, and its teaching is necessary in the educational context to discourage aggressive behaviors and promote positive social attitudes you go in students. Currently, technology makes it possible to create attractive resources for students, motivating them to want to learn instead of having to learn. Along this line, there are games supported by technology, some of which integrate Augmented Reality (AR), a promising technology that allows users to interact with digital content superimposed on the physical world, to capture the interest of students and motivate them to actively participate in the learning activity. Under this context, this chapter presents a review of strategies implemented to date related to the development of social skills with Augmented Reality. Additionally, two case studies with location-based Mobile Augmented Reality (MAR) are also presented to promote social skills in students. Finally, based on the analysis of these results, design guides and strategies are proposed that should be followed to increase the effectiveness of the processes of acquiring empathic and social skills through gamification with Augmented Reality. This chapter aims, therefore, to lay the foundations for the next developments that must be carried out in this field.
