Bearing Resistance of Strip Foundations: Eurocode 7 and Eurocode 8 Guidelines

This paper explores the bearing resistance of strip foundations under quasi-static and seismic conditions, adhering to the design codes. Specifically, the bearing resistances for a typical strip foundation in seismic conditions are determined according to Eurocode 8, Part 5, Annex F and compared with those obtained under quasi-static conditions following Eurocode 7, Part 1, Annex F. Two foundation soil types, a purely non-cohesive and a purely cohesive, are considered under an inclined loading scenario with varying values of horizontal ground acceleration. The acquired findings are compared and subjected to discussion.
