摘要

The preservation and transmission of traditional knowledge (TK) is crucial, as a vital aspect of cultural identity, also provides valuable insights into sustainable resource management practices, promoting ecological resilience and reducing the risk of environmental degradation. The intersection of traditional knowledge and bioprospecting holds immense potential for the bioeconomy. However, challenges such as biopiracy and the commodification of TK pose threats to its integrity and cultural significance, necessitating community-cantered governance structures that prioritize local ownership and participation. Goa, with its rich biodiversity and diverse cultural heritage, presents interesting possibilities for leveraging traditional knowledge and bioprospecting for the bioeconomy. Goa State Biodiversity Board has added a few more formats in addition to those prescribed by the National Biodiversity Authority, like recording practices of using bioresources from birth to death in various communities and another format is prescribed for human-animal conflict and its management.
