Perceived Physical Competence, Perceived Social Support and Interpersonal Orientation Among Athletes

The present study investigates to determine the relationship and influence among perceived physical competence, perceived social support and interpersonal orientation among athletes. Through a quantitative correlational research design, a sample of 120 athletes who are into team events (61 = females, 59 = males) was taken from different states in India. The data were analysed using different statistical tools such as Pearson’s correlation, regression and t test. Findings revealed significant relationship between perceived social support and interpersonal orientation and significant influence of perceived social support on interpersonal orientation. This emphasizes the need for coaches and sports organizations to prioritize initiatives that strengthen social support networks among athletes to foster team cohesion and performance.
