Moving into and through young adulthood is a significant life stage, encompassing substantial changes to a young person’s social world; the environments they live, learn, and work within; and the roles and responsibilities that they hold. For young people with cerebral palsy (CP), there is added complexity in this life stage. In this chapter, we discuss (1) healthcare management and participation across young adulthood for young people with CP; (2) transition of young people with CP into the adult healthcare system, including key elements for the success of this process; and (3) support for young people and their healthcare participation during young adulthood. The chapter concludes with practical recommendations for action to ensure that young people with CP receive the supports they require to participate as they would like, in healthcare and disability settings, during their transition to and through young adulthood.
