摘要

Collagen, the predominant protein in the extracellular matrix, has been extensively utilized in tissue engineering due to its biological properties and fibrous morphology. Recent technological advancements have addressed its intermediate mechanical properties and challenges in restoring natural morphology, allowing for the creation of tailored collagen biotextiles. In this book, we review the latest biotextile fabrication methods, including electrospinning, electrochemical alignment, and fiber extrusion, highlighting their role in producing robust medical products such as vascular grafts, tendon patch, and wound dressings. The integration of collagen with other ECM proteins and synthetic materials enhances mechanical performance and biological compatibility, offering promising avenues for future research. Emphasizing the need for careful material and structural design to meet the specific requirements of different tissues, this book highlights this unique multidisciplinary approach to optimize conditions for a wide range of tissue engineering applications.
