Sourcing, Extracting, and Processing Collagen Raw Materials
摘要
Collagen, a fundamental protein in tissue engineering, is derived from a variety of sources, each offering distinct types of collagen with unique structural, mechanical, and biochemical properties. This chapter delves into the diverse origins of collagen, such as skin, tendons, and tails from animals like pigs and rats, and examines the specific types of collagen they provide. The methods of extraction and processing are pivotal in determining the quality and functionality of the final collagen material. We provide a comprehensive overview of the most commonly utilized collagen sources, detailing the processes involved in their extraction and preparation for applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Emphasizing the importance of these techniques, this chapter aims to elucidate how different sourcing and processing methods impact the effectiveness and suitability of collagen in biomedical applications.
