After almost a decade of Industrial Revolution 4.0, the world community has taken a step towards the Industrial Revolution 5.0, which assimilates humans and technology. This means, the innovations of IR 4.0 such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data and Robot Technology will be incorporated into the social lives of people. Although IR 5.0 searches for solutions for society through a combination of elements presents in IR 4.0, there are still many effects and challenges especially in the field of Malay Studies. Therefore, there is a need to understand these issues in facing the Industrial Revolution 5.0 for students, especially in the field of Malay Studies in Malaysia. As such, the objective of this article is to explain the concept of the Industrial Revolution 5.0, explore the effects and challenges of IR 5.0 on students in Malay Studies in Malaysia, and suggest some of the best strategies to prepare Malay Studies students in facing IR 5.0. To achieve this objective, this research paper uses the literature review method based on secondary data. The Socio-Technical Theory is used to discuss the effects and challenge of Industrial Revolution 5.0 ad the core of this theory is the dependence on complex systems, between the social and technical aspects in understanding universal human civilisation. The challenges and effects of IR 5.0 in Malay Studies should be addressed by all parties through several strategies as suggested. Therefore, this article aims to contribute to Malay Studies to remain relevant in this great industrial revolution in the future.
