Impact of Plant Microbiome Research on Sustainable Crop Yields
摘要
In the last few decades, microbiome research and its findings have indicated that the microbial community associated with plants acts as a key component for plant health. Plant-associated microorganisms help plants in several ways such as growth promotion, nitrogen fixation, mineralization, solubilization, mobilization of nutrients, and protection against disease. Over and above, microorganisms with critical roles in the microbiome are isolated and formulated as a biopesticides for the protection against disease and biofertilizers for the growth and development of plants in an environment-friendly way. Employing innovative approaches involving microbiomes signifies the forthcoming trajectory of sustainable agriculture and crop cultivation. This chapter centers on the exploration of microbiomes and their practical utilization in agricultural contexts. The integration of agriculturally significant microbes aims to foster sustainable agricultural practices, fostering a safe environment and preserving biodiversity.
