Optimization of Positioning of Reclosers in the High Voltage Category a Distribution Network of Alibori (Benin)

Distribution networks are the site of various disturbances that affect the reliability and availability of electrical systems. These disruptions contribute to the increase in undistributed energy. In Benin, the most recurring disturbances recorded on the High Voltage category A (HTA) distribution networks of the Beninese Electric Energy Company (SBEE) are fugitive faults, homopolar faults and blackouts. Despite the positioning of the recloser circuit breakers, several feeders are experiencing serious reliability problems. This study, based on NSGA II type genetic algorithms, is carried out to optimize the positioning of recloser circuit breakers on the Alibori network in order to provide a significant improvement in the reliability rate. The results obtained show a significant reduction in the reliability indices of the Bembéréké and Kandi feeders, in particular the SAIFI which goes respectively from 1.21 to 0.091 and the SAIDI from 7.52 to 0.171 and consequently, a reduction in undistributed energy of 97%. on the two departures and a recovery of undistributed energy of 67.12% over the entire Alibori HTA network (11°19′ North Latitude and 2°55′ East Longitude). Thus, consumers will have more energy at their disposal and the SBEE will also be able to avoid a significant shortfall.
