Nanoporous Materials and Confined Liquids

Nanoporous materials comprise zeolites, metal organic frameworks, disordered mesoporous oxides, ordered mesoporous oxides and carbon nanostructures. This chapter addresses the synthesis, structure, and applications of each of these material types. Moreover, the changes in the physical properties of liquids confined in nanoporous materials are discussed. The altered properties of confined phases also form the basis for two important techniques to characterize nanoporous materials: physisorption and thermoporometry.
