摘要

This module is indicated for patients in whom events and associated moods contribute to the maintenance of binge-eating episodes and other types of dysfunctional eating. This mechanism is recognizable because it leads to repeated deviations from regular eating associated with events or changes in mood. Predictable events influencing eating are addressed via the proactive problem-solving procedure, and unpredictable events via the procedure of things to say (also known as urge surfing) and do (also known as alternative activities). In the subgroup of patients who are highly sensitive to any intense mood state and manage emotional changes through dysfunctional mood-modulation behaviours (e.g., alcohol or substance misuse, self-harm, binge eating), the module introduces specific strategies and procedures to intervene in the sequence of events leading to mood intolerance and deploy functional mood-modulation behaviours. The module is also indicated for patients with binge-eating disorder (BED) using binge eating as their primary source of reward in life. In such cases, patients are helped to identify rewarding activities and their consequences, and to increase the importance of other rewarding activities. Finally, the module also includes the procedure of binge-eating analysis to help the patient address residual binge-eating episodes.
