Biocomposite materials have the capacity to aid the indirect transmission of viral diseases. In this chapter, research and development on biocomposites related to COVID-19 is presented. Biocomposites are alternatively used to produce a wide range of products that are “high-touch” surfaces including sports equipment, medical appliances, and household fittings. This chapter is divided into two main parts. First, the contribution of biocomposites conducted by different researchers or industries to help those who were affected during COVID-19 pandemic is presented. Potential strategies that can be used to impart antiviral properties to biocomposite surfaces are evaluated. It is found biocomposites are mainly used in COVID-19 in face masks and filters for face masks. Second, biocomposite materials from recycled wastes of COVID-19 for new products are discussed, which opens up an exciting new field of research for biocomposite materials.

摘要
