Currently, Digital Transformation has captured significant attention from academic, industrial, and governmental sectors. In alignment with other developing nations, Mauritania is actively working towards facilitating this complex transition through collaborative efforts from the ministry concerned (MTNIMA) and its partners. The Digital Transformation in Mauritania serves as a compelling case study, shedding light on both the promising opportunities and challenges faced by developing countries when integrating advanced digital technologies. This article delves into the state of the art related to Digital Transformation, alongside advancements in cutting-edge technologies, with a specific focus on Mauritania. It discusses the challenges encountered by the country in our days notably in infrastructure limitations, access to technologies and the internet, and those related to sector-specific gaps in digitalization, preventing advancement in the progress of interesting sectors like finance, commerce, education, health, and agriculture. Our innovative vision proposed: Mauritania 4.0 is based on the use of advanced technologies in industry 4.0: AI, IoT, Big Data, Cloud, and Blockchain to accelerate the Digital Transformation in Mauritania. In particular enhancing connectivity, optimization of cybersecurity measures, and integrating advanced technologies to drive towards digital prosperity in interesting industries such as Smart Cities, fishing, mining, and management of water, energy, and gas. This vision suggests innovative research pathways proposing avenues for unique research tailored to Mauritania that could apply also to other developing countries facing similar constraints, more precisely in Africa.
