Artificial Intelligence and Changing the Arc of Education

This chapter examines how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the arc of education. We address common concerns of educational leaders, such as inclusivity and efficacy, and the impact of AI applications on these concerns. We concentrate on how the AI revolution is shaping and will continue to shape how educational leaders address these concerns while still centering student needs. This chapter extends the general information from the previous chapter to include more specific examples of applications that are changing what is happening in classrooms and schools. This chapter is most concerned with implementation, discussing what teachers and educational leaders can do with AI (i.e., lesson planning, predictive assessments), and the implications of these new powers (i.e., policies, data management).
