Introduction

This chapter introduces artificial intelligence in education and sets up the framework for the book. The book includes a survey of approaches to AI in schools, considerations for inclusion, and considerations for limitations. These approaches are framed around the idea of wicked problems in education. With wicked problems, we cannot expect solutions to arise when the field is still young and in movement. However, by including the voices of educators and case studies in this book, we hope to encourage productive and meaningful conversations addressing these problems.
