Learning could be revolutionized by introducing artificial intelligence (AI) systems, like ChatGPT, into the classroom. ChatGPT can be used in educational contexts, however, ethical and governance issues need to be resolved. The purpose of this work is to investigate the state-of-the-art research on ChatGPT governance and ethics in education by conducting a rapid Literature Review. In particular, the study focuses on making sure AI is adopted responsibly and appropriately. After screening several papers, a final cohort of some papers underwent a thorough evaluation. The findings highlight important trends about the moral and legal challenges that come with using ChatGPT in classroom settings. In this context, the topics being covered include data protection and privacy, algorithmic bias and fairness, transparency and explainability, mental health and well-being of students, and the value of human oversight and accountability. The comprehensive literature review emphasizes how important it is to put strong ethical guidelines and governance frameworks in place to guide the development, use, and use of ChatGPT in the educational setting. The current brief review emphasizes how important it is to address biases, protect user privacy, promote openness, and reduce any potential harm to the welfare of students. It suggests that all parties involved in decision-making—including legislators, educators, and students—engage in active participation. The study assessment and synthesis techniques used in this work offer a thorough and rigorous examination of the up-to-date research on the ethics and governance of ChatGPT in education, and they are appropriate for the research question and objectives. The results of the study suggest that the integration of ChatGPT in educational settings has the potential to greatly alter the process of learning. Before it is widely implemented, nevertheless, it is imperative to address governance and ethical issues. This paper highlights the need for strong authority structures and ethical guidelines to direct the development, implementation, and use of ChatGPT in educational settings.
